Down falls the white ice

From the clouds

It blankets the ground

The trees all have prepared for this day

With open arms, they welcome the weather’s cold powder

Like children with sugar,  they remind me of

I step out the door

To see some more of this sight

Though the sun shines bright

I am frozen by the ice

The gravity pulls hard at the snow

They land on my face

And speckle my eyelashes

In one windy blow

I smile at this winter present

Then go back inside, where the warmth is pleasant.

You know that winter song that was originally played in the movie, “The Sound of Music”? That’s where I got the inspiration for this poem.
